Historical Milestones & Timeline
In 1981, a group of Brandon residents, concerned about the needs of older adults, formed Brandon Seniors for Seniors to help seniors remain independent and connected within the community. On November 15, 1982, the organization was officially incorporated under the Cooperatives Act of Manitoba as Brandon Seniors for Seniors Co-op Inc., beginning with an 11-member Board of Directors.
Our organization has continued to flourish, and we proudly partner with various like-minded organizations to continue to provide important programs and services to age-friendly adults in Brandon and area.

Incorporated
Officially incorporated under the Cooperatives Act of Manitoba as Brandon Seniors for Seniors Co-op Inc., beginning with an 11-member Board of Directors.
Expanding Services
Expansion of volunteer-driven services supporting independent living, including health information, community outreach, transportation assistance, social activities, educational programming, and advocacy for older adults.
Broadening Support
The Co-op broadened its wellness and support services, including meal programs, foot care, medical equipment lending, workshops, fitness activities, and volunteer opportunities, becoming one of Brandon's major senior resource organizations.
Affordable Housing Initiative
Members identified affordable senior housing as a growing community need and established the Western Manitoba Seniors Non-Profit Housing Co-operative to develop housing "by seniors, for seniors."
First Housing Project
Completion of the first affordable housing project at 620 McDiarmid Drive, providing 34 affordable apartments for seniors, followed by a second development at 2105 Brandon Avenue with 63 units.
Smack the Jack
First Initiated Province Wide Smack The Jack Fundraiser.
40th Anniversary
Brandon Seniors for Seniors celebrated 40 years of serving older adults, recognizing four decades of volunteerism, partnerships, and community support.
Healthy Aging Award
Recipient of the Manitoba Healthy Aging Award for Intergenerational Activities, recognizing innovative partnerships between seniors, schools, youth, personal care homes, and community organizations.
Jackpot
Smack the Jack celebrated their first ever million-dollar jackpot winner.
